Painting at College Ave Presbyterian Church

  • Jeff Trowbridge, of the Piedmont Montclair Rotary, discusses the painting project with Vanessa.

Thanks to the crew members who dragged themselves out of bed to help out on this painting project, sponsored by Piedmont Montclair Rotary.  After months of work where Rotary sponsored the renovation of this church basement dining hall, the room was ready for the final coat of paint.  The crew had been invited a couple other times to help in the renovation steps, but today the job was to do what our crew does a lot of during our Rebuilding Together Oakland (RTO) projects each Oct & Apr.

Every 5th Friday, in this space that we helped to renovate today, our Crew teams up with Piedmont Montclair Rotary at the College Ave Presbyterian Church to prepare a Community dinner that feeds around 80 homeless people that queue up hours in advance.  At the end of this month, we expect to be back at this venue, but with the dining room walls and ceiling repaired and just now, freshly painted!

We are actively seeking crew members to lead this upcoming meal on Nov 30: menu selection, buying food, planning the meal, leading the preparation and cooking, serving the guests, cleanup.  If you’re interested, contact one of the Crew Officers or Advisor Ken Li.
